This commissioned work was first performed by a State Festival Chorus and was very successful for the men’s group.
The music is arranged by Bob Walters, former arranger (Ret) for the U.S. Air Force Chorus known as the “Singing Sergeants”.
There is a very minor amount of optional divisi in First Tenors, and allows for those who have a higher range to reach an Ab. Otherwise, all of the parts are very accessible for men’s groups. The arrangement is not difficult, but does use some interesting harmonic movement. It can be sung very dramatically, or very smoothly depending on the occasion you choose it for.
Bob’s first arrangements for male chorus occurred in 1961 when an entire program of Sacred Christmas music was created for a chorus of 101 men singers from the combined members of the Marine, Air Force, Army, and Navy choral groups for a special performance at the White House for President John and First Lady Jackie Kennedy.
Included here is a sound file of the music, created synthetically by the “Finale” software program using neutral “ah” syllables.
Permission is granted to copy this music for the number of persons in the group it is intended for. Pricing includes the permission for all copies.
