A solo based on the traditional Christmas hymn tune (St Louis) for every student or adult player at an easy level, with beautiful orchestral colors for any number of accompanying instruments. Year subscribers download this music at no cost.

All the parts are suitable for players with 3-4 years on their instruments. Great for schools, or church ensembles of any size, requiring a minimum of rehearsal time, yet the music sounds sophisticated, harmonically well developed, and has interesting changes of color throughout. There is even a solo that works for String Bass which is also suitable for Contra Bassoon or Tuba players.

Originally written for an adult orchestra with a trumpet lead (played by a Georgetown University computer professor), the parts have been changed only slightly to make the music work easily for student ensembles and soloists.

Besides the solo parts and score, the orchestral parts include all of the following:

Flute, Oboe, Clarinet 1-2, Bass Clarinet, Bassoon, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, F Horn, Trumpet 1-2-3, Trombone 1-2-3, Bass Trombone (Tuba), Perc. 1 (Bells, Chimes), Perc. 2 (Sus. Cymbal, Mark Tree), Violin 1-2, Viola, Cello, String Bass, Harp, Piano, Full Score shows parts slightly condensed (eg. Alto Sax is the same as F Horn, etc.)

The sound file will allow you to decide exactly if this will work for your group of players. All sound files are free, and can be downloaded as needed. You do have permission to copy this sound file so students can use it for practice purposes.

The music was created by Bob Walters, former member of the U.S. Air Force Band arranging staff, and writer for music groups that perform at the White House.
