This was originally arranged for Jerry Rodgers, soloist extraordinaire with the Marine Band - “The Presidents Own” (Ret). Jerry played this arrangement for years in almost every concert he presented in churches and schools.

His playing was always impeccable, as you will hear in the sample recording of this title that is attached to every version of the solo. The arrangement is idiomatically crafted for every orchestral instrument. It is challenging, but not impossible for good student soloists. Some students have used this setting for competition presentations.

There are 2 possible additions to every version of this solo. One is for the addition of any number of instruments added as accompaniment textures, up to a full Wind Ensemble or Church Orchestra (505004OR). The second is for adding voices – either a Vocal Ensemble, or a church or school Choir (505004CH) – as further accompaniment colors.

The arrangement can be played smoothly as Jerry does in the sample recording, or more dramatically in a classical concert style. This was created by Bob Walters, former staff arranger (Ret) for the U.S. Air Force Band in Washington.
