In this arrangement, the Solo part begins the setting and ends the piece. In the middle section, the Orchestra or Winds play the leads. Originally this was a Trumpet Solo played by a computer professor from Georgetown University.

The music is approximately the length of time most music directors prefer for an offertory, particularly churches that have the time constraints considered when a television or radio broadcast is occurring.

The setting is in a flowing style useful for the Christmas hymn “O Little Town of Bethlehem.” There are some colorful chords, but they fit in carefully with the hymn setting and do not stand out.

Additional solos can be found under the same number with the suffix for that instrument.

Professionals use this each year, yet the music is very playable by student musicians.

This musical setting was created by Bob Walters, arranger (Ret) for the U.S. Air Force Band in Washington.
