This could be a useful setting for good student players – even those with 3-4 years on their instruments. Adults have used this arrangement in church settings – but the parts are not difficult.

Students enjoy playing the parts because they recognize the song and the words –

“Bless the Lord, O My Soul, and all that is within me bless His Holy Name. He has done great things.”

Each trio is written so one family of instruments can be used to play the parts. Yet, all of these trios match, so any combination of instruments can be used – and even doubling or tripling of the parts is successful.

The music is very useful as a prelude, or offertory, or as an interlude in a service. The parts are warm and smooth – so the setting could also serve as a quiet background for prayer (etc.) The ending could be played quietly in this use.
